(9th December 2016)
After obtaining permission from the management of the Three Spire centre and approaching the other music groups in the Lichfield U3A, we hoped for and were lucky to have a very mild dry day.
The Recorder Group started things off at 11.00am, basing themselves under the arches next door to M & S. They really looked the part with festive outfits and some traditional music for passers by to enjoy.
It was quickly apparent that the shoppers were happy to stand and listen and to donate to the St Giles Hospice appeal that we had chosen to support.
The Guitar group arrived and set up for an 11.45 start and elected to move to the front of M & S as it was becoming a little chilly in the wind tunnel of the arches.
During the day the U3A Folk Musicians joined in as did some of the Sing For Pleasure group. The latter sitting opposite the Guitar group to create an opposing force as we played. [See the last two pictures]
After an excellent day we managed to raise over £500 for St Giles. Fun with purpose, who could ask for more.
